eMINTS Parachute Challenge

Our task was to develop a new parachute that would bring skydivers to the ground slowly over a short jumping distance from a low-flying plane. The challenge was to determine which factors MOST affect how fast a parachute comes to the ground.  With only a sheet of plastic, string, washers, scissors and tape, our amazing group created a parachute, collected data, analyzed the design elements and brainstormed modifications to retest.  When the project was completed, our group better understood how to incorporate this inquiry based activity into their own classrooms.  Below is a link to the challenge
